A simple and easy to use odometer. GPS Odometer only does one thing, and does it well: measure distance traveled. The full version allows for multiple odometers that can run simultaneously. Now includes run in background capability. Ideal for almost anything that requires measuring outdoor distance traveled such as walking, running, driving, boating, hiking, horseback riding. Please note that the second screen shot is for the full version.Important! Common user mistakes:- Make sure GPS is not disabled. Go to settings -> location- Do not try to test the app by pacing around in the same small area.- Satellite based GPS location does not work well indoors. Many apps use network based location because it does work indoors, but it is not accurate enough for use with this app. If the location icon is flashing in your status bar, that means your PHONE can't acquire a satellite GPS fix.Features:- accurate to within 1 percent when compared to most car odometers under normal driving conditions.- includes a timer- includes a lock to help prevent accidental reset of your trip. After unlocked, it locks back in 9 seconds, or you can lock it yourself.- includes displacement readout (straight line distance from your starting point)- average speed readout in meters per second, feet per second, yards per second, kilometers per hour, miles per hour, nautical miles per hour- accounts for the curvature of the Earth- includes meters, kilometers, yards, feet, miles and nautical miles- approximates distance traveled in some GPS dead spots such as driving through a tunnel by adding the as-a-bird flies distance to your trip.- resumes tracking after restartFor those of you using this app for simulations, note that the app stores distance traveled as meters in 4 byte floating point... after several million miles, the distance may no longer update.Known bugs/limitations:- Timer is not accurate after elapsed time exceeds 10 days- User time is being sampled to calculate elapsed time, this is not correct, as changing time zones will cause the timer to lose or gain time- Coordinates only display to 3 decimal places of accuracy.. This app was not intended for a precise fix, as I have better apps for that. Anyway, people seem to be using it for that purpose, so I will include at least a 4th decimal point.Previous updates:11-27- fixed display problem for phone with short displays- fixed nautical miles- The rating prompt will only appear every 3 days (for those that can't press the button) eg.. backing out counts as a 'maybe later' button press.- should be a little better on battery drain- Did not fix spelling mistakes because it would 'break' the mapping from english to other languages. Need to rethink that.10-13- bug fix for non responsive UI that occurs at unsafe driving speeds
